What Is Latisse®?

Latisse® is an FDA-approved prescription medication used to treat thinning eyelashes. It works by increasing the number of hairs in the lash line, making them longer, thicker, and darker.

How Does Latisse® Work?

The active ingredient in Latisse® is bimatoprost, which helps to promote longer and fuller lashes. Latisse® is applied directly to the upper lash line with a sterile applicator once daily for up to 16 weeks to achieve full results. If Latisse® is no longer used, the results will fade over a few months to the original eyelash appearance.

What Can I Expect From Latisse®?

Latisse® is a safe and effective treatment for thinning eyelashes. After several weeks of regular use, you can expect fuller and longer lashes. Results may vary from person to person, but many of our patients who have decided to use Latisse® have been very happy with their results. This treatment eliminates the need for mascara and fake eyelashes, which can be irritating to the eyes and is only attainable through a medical professional.

Are There Any Side Effects With Latisse®?

The most common side effect associated with Latisse® is an itching sensation in the eyes or eye redness. However, these side effects typically resolve within a few weeks. You should take time to speak to your doctor at Shenandoah LASIK and Cataract Center if you experience irritation after using Latisse® to determine the best course of action. Some patients may continue to use Latisse® and see these issues reduced with time, or others may decide to stop the use of Latisse® altogether, depending on the frequency and severity of the side effects noticed.
