Meet Dr. John A. Stefano, MD, FACS
For more than two decades, Dr. John A. Stefano has been known by his patients and colleagues for offering quality eye care throughout Northern Shenandoah Valley.
Since 1979 he has established himself as a skilled eye surgeon, performing over 1200 major surgical cases each year. In 1986, Dr. Stefano was the first surgeon in his area to perform RK (radial keratotomy) to correct nearsightedness and astigmatism. Ten years later, in 1996, when the FDA first approved the use of the excimer laser to correct visual problems using the technique known as PRK, Dr. Stefano underwent training to learn the procedure. He soon became part of the first group of doctors in the country to receive certification to perform laser vision correction, and also became the first eye surgeon in the Winchester area to perform this surgery.
