Ophthalmic Technician

The Shenandoah LASIK & Cataract Center seeks an experienced ophthalmic assistant or ophthalmic technician. The practice values staff who are self-motivated, progressive in their outlook towards medical advancements and are flexible in their ability to adapt to both technological and socio-economic changes that ophthalmology is currently undergoing. Staff members must be technologically literate but also must have good “people skills”.

Technician and assistant duties will include patient work up including refraction, and working in the LASIK suite on surgery day. A multi-tasker is a must. Experience in performing Orb-scans, VISX wavescans, Zeiss IOL Master measurement, Zeiss OCT, Konnan ECC, Marco EPIC refractions and working with Refractive Surgery patients is desirable. May be willing to provide extra training to select individual with a good baseline of experience in the ophthalmic or optometric fields. Must be used to using EMR systems.

Full time or part-time. Flexible scheduling of work hours might be possible. Office is open Monday through Friday 8:30-5:00. Health care benefits available.

Practice Information

Our practice is the premiere Refractive Surgery Practice in the Northern Shenandoah Valley, in Winchester, Virginia, within an easy commuting range to metropolitan Washington, DC. Practice started in 1982. VISX S4 and AMO Intralase lasers on-site.
